  • Lucca’s World

Release Date: January 31st

Summary: based on the book, The Two Hemispheres of Lucca by Barbara Anderson, Mexico brings forth a heartfelt film that is a testament to a mother’s boundless love and unmatchable resilience, and shines a light on the struggles of people with disabilities. The film centers on a woman, Barbara, whose son, Lucca, has cerebral palsy. Despite multiple barriers such as financial hardships, the entire family travels to India to help Lucca rebuild his brain’s connections with a therapeutic technique.

  • Aitana: Metamorphosis

Release Date: February 28th

Summary: If you haven’t yet heard of Aitana, you’re about to! Aitana: Metamorphosis is a first-hand look at the Spanish icon’s journey from competing as a teen singer in a talent show to becoming an award-winning artist, also referred to as the Spanish Queen of Pop.

We can expect an immersive experience covering multiple aspects of Aitana’s life, with the star herself sharing deeply personal experiences about how she navigated the large number of challenges that came her way as well as her reflections on her journey from an everyday teenager to an international pop star.

  • Vini Junior – The Documentary

Release Date: TBD

Summary: When it comes to biopics on soccer legends, Netflix never ceases to amaze us, with titles like Pele and Beckham. And this time, they’re bringing the story of Brazilian soccer legend, Vinícius Júnior to the screen.

The documentary will explore the career of the 24-year-old soccer idol, such as his early days in Flamengo, his career-boosting time at Real Madrid, and his contributions to the Brazilian national team. Additionally, it is also expected to highlight the player’s experiences of abuse he faced and his battles against racism in the soccer industry.

  • Carlos Alcaraz: My Way

Release Date: TBD

Summary: Previously, Netflix featured Carlos Alcaraz in the Netflix Slam, a televised match where the tennis wonder child competed against the one and only Rafael Nadal. Now, they’re bringing the spotlight solely to Carlos, in the form of a documentary series that explores the 21-year-old Spanish tennis sensation’s 2024 career highlights and is set to bridge the gap between fans and the tennis superstar’s life both on and off the court. I mean, Carlos Alcaraz himself said, “People are going to get to know everything you don’t see on a tennis court.”

  • Las Muertas

Release Date: TBD

Summary: Brace yourselves, you’re now entering the dark side of history. Based on the book of the same name by Jorge Ibargüengoitia, this limited series will explore the lives of the evil sisters, María del Jesús and Delfina González Valenzuela. Known as the Las Poquianchis, the sisters were pimps and serial killers, who ran a large prostitution ring and are rumored to have murdered over 200 people, between 1950 to 1964.

This series promises to be a mind-twisting delight for all those who have the stomach for it.

  • Olympo

Release Date: TBD

Summary: Don’t judge based on the name! While I too thought the show was related to the Olympics, it is much deeper than that. The series centers on the captain of the Spanish national synchronized swimming team, Amaia, and her teammates. Portrayed as a perfectionist, Amaia demands nothing less than the best from herself and her teammates, with no tolerance for mistakes.

As their journey progresses, Amaia sees her teammate and best friend Nuria performing better than her for the first time and soon notices that other teammates are also mysteriously improving their performance. The series will explore how far her team will go in improving themselves for the sport. We can expect themes touching on morality, friendships, and what it means to be a team.

  • Celda 211 (Prison Cell 211)

Release Date: TBD

Summary: Remember the thrilling 2009 Spanish movie of the same name? Mexico brings us a remake of the film in the form of a gripping and intense limited series.

The story basically shows what a lawyer’s worst nightmare might be like. The plot focuses on a lawyer who arrives to meet his client in prison but is caught amidst a riot and trapped in the prison. Posing as a prisoner to survive, the lawyer must navigate life-and-death situations in an increasingly dangerous environment. To add to the intensity, this series is based on a real-life prison riot in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.

  • The Gringo Hunters

Release Date: TBD

Summary: Yet another amazing addition to the crime thriller genre, this series will focus on a Mexican police unit dedicated to capturing American fugitives fleeing from Uncle Sam to hide in Mexico.

Inspired by a real-life elite Mexican police team with the same goal, and based on a Washington Post article by Kevin Sieff the series promises to pack a range of mysteries, suspense, and mind-bending plot twists. Viewers can expect a first-hand ticket to the challenges such elite task forces face daily.

Ready, Set, Stream!
